Air Raid on the School

On January 28th 1918 the School was damaged during an air raid. Five Children were killed and several more injured. The Minutes of the School’s Managers recorded the bereaved family names.

In later years these names were recorded on a memorial plate displayed outside the school.  William Langer rescued four of his fellows but lost his own life attempting to rescue a fifth, a commemorative alabasta plaque was donated to the school in William’s memory.  Both memorials have since been lost.
